Almaty CHPP-1 is gearing up for the 2024–2025 heating season, and repair work is right on track.
Currently, repairs on boiler unit No. 10 and hot water boiler No. 2 are complete. Work is now in progress on pumping equipment, boiler unit No. 9, hot water boiler No. 4, and related auxiliary equipment. The operating team is consistently monitoring the quality of the ongoing repairs.
Vladimir Sizov, Deputy Chief Engineer of CHP-1, shared, “This year's repair campaign at CHP-1 includes extensive work on shutdown equipment, pumps, and heating gear. We plan to repair 6 boiler units, 7 hot water boilers, and 3 turbine units with their auxiliary equipment”
For the 2023-2024 heating season, the station produced 368 million kW*hours of electricity and 1,359 million Gcal of thermal energy. Surpassing expectations, the station generated 428 million kW*hours against a planned 392 million kW*hours, exceeding the target by 109%. Heat supply also outperformed, reaching 1,484 thousand Gcal against a target of 1,405 thousand Gcal, or 105% of the plan.
Alibek Tastanbekov, the plant director, mentioned, “As we approach its 90th anniversary in 2025, CHP-1 has contributed significantly to our energy needs. Since its inception, it has generated over 39 bn. kW*hours of electricity and more than 150 mln. Gcal of heat.
