The largest Kazakhstani power plant summed up the results of the I quarter of 2020

"Ekibastuz SDPP-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov" LLP completed the 1st quarter of 2020 with production of 5, 7 bln. kWh of electricity. At the same time, in February, the largest load in the country’s thermal power plant reported a record load for 7 power units - 3481 MW. The last time a similar indicator was in February 1986. At that time the maximum mark reached 3095 MW, but with the operation of 8 power units.

The share of electricity in the Kazakhstani market generated by ESDPP-1 amounted to 19, 4%.Compared to the 1st quarter of 2019, the share of electricity increased by 5, 1%.

Electricity sales in the Kazakhstani market increased by 31,3% compared to the first quarter of 2019 and amounted to 5,5 bn. kWh. 455 mln. kWh of electricity were sold to the Republic of Uzbekistan market.

Ekibastuz SDPP-1, which is part of “Samruk-Energy” JSC, the largest power holding company in Kazakhstan, is the flagship of the republic’s power sector. Only last year the power plant generated 18, 3 bn. kW / h. This was 17, 3% of the total share of electricity generation in the country.

The power plant demonstrated a complete readiness for the autumn-winter season with the operation of seven power units, the average unit load of which is 455 megawatts.

In order to ensure uninterrupted power supply to its consumers, a whole range of activities was conducted at the plant, such as, in 2019, the plant conducted current and extended repairs of 3 power units and major repairs of two more (No. 3 and No. 5). As of today, restoration of first power unit is underway, which like the rest units will be equipped with highly efficient advanced electrostatic precipitators with 99,6 percent ash collection degree.

An increase of the plant’s working capacity is necessary for the Republic of Kazakhstan since this reduces the risk of energy shortages in the country and contributes to the growth of the national economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It is worth reminding that Ekibastuz State District Power Plant-1 celebrated its anniversary in April this year. The power plant turned 40 years old. Today it employs more than 1400 people. Along with increasing production capacities, ESDPP-1 is actively involved in the social life of the region, providing sponsorship to social projects of Ekibastuz city, supporting charitable public foundations, and cultural events.

“Ekibastuz SDPP-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov” LLP is a condensation-type thermal power plant, which generates and distributes electricity with a designed installed capacity of 4,000 MW and actual (until the completion of the project for restoration of power unit No. 1) capacity of 3 500 MW. The sole shareholder of ESDPP-1 plant is “Samruk-Energy” JSC. Most of the electricity generated at the plant is distributed in the energy market of Kazakhstan. “Samruk-Energy” JSC is the largest power holding company in Kazakhstan, 100% owned by “Samruk-Kazyna” SWF JSC.
