In the Turkestan region, the second of four hydroelectric units planned for the reconstruction of the station was put into operation at the shardarinskaya HPP. The HPP has successfully completed testing of technological equipment and carried out basic construction and installation work.
We remind that within the framework of the program of radical modernization of the shardarinskaya HPP, it is planned to replace all four hydroelectric units of the station by March 2020. The total cost of the project is 38 billion tenge. Financing is carried out by 32 % at the expense of own funds, 68% - at the expense of borrowed funds. The project contractor is the Austrian – German company Andritz Hydro Gmbh.
The large-scale reconstruction will increase the capacity of the HPP by 26 percent - from the current 100 to 126 MW. Additionally, 57 million kWh / year will be produced annually. The new equipment will increase the service life of the hydroelectric power station to 35-40 years, increase the reliability of HPP operation and reduce the level of accidents. According to the specialists of Samruk-Energo JSC, the project is of great importance for providing electricity to the energy-deficient Turkestan region and improving the efficiency of water resources use in the region.
Shardarinskaya HPP was commissioned in 1967 with an installed capacity of 100 MW and the number of units - 4 PCs. With a standard service life of 25 years, the technological equipment of the station has been in operation for more than 50 years, and equipment wear was almost 100% by the beginning of the modernization project. Some of the electrical equipment installed at the hydroelectric power station is no longer produced at the manufacturing plants and has been discontinued. Further operation of the equipment has become impractical from the point of view of economy and reliability of operation.
With the commissioning of the first two hydroelectric units, construction work on the third unit is underway in parallel. At the same time, the dismantling of the fourth will begin. According to the approved schedule, the units introduced by this time will work at this time. In this way, according to the work plan, it is planned to update all four hydroelectric units.
