Agreement signed for construction of Kazakhstan's first pumped storage power plant by Samruk-Energy

On the sidelines of the Kazakhstan-China Business Council, an Agreement on Cooperation was signed for the construction of Kazakhstan's first pumped storage hydro power plant (PSH). 

 Samruk-Energy JSC and China International Water & Electric Corporation (CWE) have agreed to collaborate on the development and implementation of the PSH project. Specifically, CWE intends to conduct a feasibility study of the project, including an analysis of Kazakhstan's hydroelectric potential. 

The agreement, signed by both parties, reaffirms their intention to further cooperation and strengthen mutually beneficial partnership for the implementation of this breakthrough project in the country's energy sector. 

China International Water & Electric Corporation (CWE) is a Chinese international corporation specializing in water management and energy, focusing on the construction of hydroelectric facilities. 

A pumped storage hydro power plant (PSH) is used for electricity generation, energy storage, and smoothing out the daily variations in electrical load schedules.
