The implementation of the thermal power plant (TPP) construction project in Kokshetau was the focus of a meeting between Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Energy" JSC and Marat Akhmetzhanov, Mayor of the Akmola region. Maksutov provided an update on the commencement of project activities and outlined future plans for the project's execution.
Following the directive from the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Samruk-Energy" JSC has initiated the process of updating the feasibility study for the TPP construction and has established "Kokshetau TPP" LLP. The contract for the development of design and estimate documentation with "INTER RAO – Export" LLC is currently under review.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the development of external infrastructure, including land allocation, the construction of railway tracks and access roads, connections to power grids, wastewater disposal, and water supply.
Region’s mayor Marat Akhmetzhanov emphasized that providing heating to the regional center is a strategically important issue.
It is noteworthy that in April of this year, an agreement on cooperation for the construction of TPP projects in Kokshetau, Semey, and Ust-Kamenogorsk was signed between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Russia. The designated organizations are "Samruk-Energy" JSC and "Inter RAO – Export" LLC.
