Samruk-Energy and China Energy sign Agreement for joint development of a renewable energy project

During the 29th Session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29), "Samruk-Energy" JSC and China Energy Overseas Investment signed an Agreement for the joint development of a renewable energy project with a total capacity of 800 MW.

The project entails the construction of a 500 MW wind power plant in Karaganda region and a 300 MW solar power plant in Turkestan region. The agreement formalizes the parties' commitment to advancing sustainable energy in Kazakhstan. The commissioning of the facilities is scheduled for 2028.

Previously, on July 2, 2024, a memorandum of understanding on renewable energy was signed between  “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC and China Energy Overseas Investment at the Kazakhstan-China Business Council in Astana.
