Power unit No. 1 commissioned at Ekibastuz SDPP-1

A certificate for commissioning of power unit No. 1 was signed at Ekibastuz SDPP-1. The event, which is significant in the energy sector, was attended by the Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sungat Esimkhanov, and the Chairman of the Board of “Samruk-Energy” JSC, Kairat Maxutov.

The implementation of the project to restore power unit No. 1 has enabled Ekibastuz SDPP-1 to operate at full capacity in an eight-unit mode for the first time in the past 30 years. As a result, the plant’s capacity has increased to 4000 MW.

As part of the project, Ekibastuz SDPP-1 has been equipped with a modernized 540 MW energy block with improved energy efficiency, new boiler and turbine equipment, electric filters to reduce pollutant emissions, and a modern automated process control system.

The commissioning of power unit No. 1 will create new jobs, with approximately 400 specialists expected to be recruited. Additionally, the increased capacity of the power plant will have a multiplying effect on the development of other sectors of the economy.

Overall, the implementation of the project will ensure stable and reliable energy supply for consumers and industrial enterprises, help address the electricity shortage, and mark an important step toward ensuring the country’s energy independence.
