A meeting of the Public Council of "Samruk-Kazyna," JSC chaired by Bolat Zhamishev, was held to review the performance outcomes of "Samruk-Energy" JSC. The session was attended by the management teams from the Fund, “Samruk-Energy" JSC, deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, experts, and public figures.
"Samruk-Energy" JSC the country’s leading diversified energy holding, manages the full energy production cycle—from coal extraction to electricity distribution. It accounts for 32% of Kazakhstan’s installed power capacity and 42% of its coal output. The company comprises 25 subsidiaries and employs approximately 20,000 people.
Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Energy" JSC presented the company’s results for 2024. He emphasized that the Samruk-Energy group surpassed its electricity generation targets last year, with its subsidiaries producing 39.7 billion kWh—102% of the annual plan and an increase over 2023’s actual figures. For 2025, the company plans to boost electricity output to 40.9 billion kWh.
The 2024 repair campaign was fully executed, enabling a successful current heating season. Additionally, in late 2024, Unit 1 of the Ekibastuz SDPP-1 power plant was commissioned, raising the station’s capacity to 4,000 MW. For the first time in 30 years, the plant operated with all eight units online.
Maxutov detailed major investment projects aimed at advancing Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure, ensuring energy security, and supporting economic growth.
By 2032, "Samruk-Energy" JSC intends to commission 14.3 GW of new power capacities, accounting for 55% of the national plan for additional generation.
