Samruk-Energy JSC plans to implement over 30 investment projects for the construction of new generation facilities

At the Government meeting, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy JSC Kairat Maxutov presented the company’s progress in implementing major investment projects in the energy sector.

He noted that Samruk-Energy’s investment portfolio includes more than 30 projects, 18 of which are large-scale initiatives aimed at constructing up to 11.6 gigawatts of new generation capacity by 2035.

The company is implementing a comprehensive range of projects across all areas of electricity generation — gas, coal, renewable, and hydropower.

“A number of projects are being implemented in cooperation with partners from France, Qatar, China, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates,” said Kairat Maxutov.

In the field of gas generation, three projects with a total capacity of 2.2 GW are currently underway. One of the key initiatives is the expansion of Ekibastuz SDPP-2 through the installation of the 3rd and 4th power units with a combined capacity of 1,080 MW.

As part of the CHP construction project in Kokshetau, contracts have been signed for design, equipment supply, and construction. For the CHPs in Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk, construction contracts have been concluded based on pre-feasibility study materials. The commissioning of these plants — with an installed capacity of 360 MW and 1,000 Gcal/h — is planned for 2029.
