Ekibastuz SDPP-1 generated a record volume of electricity

Based on the results of 2025, Ekibastuz SDPP-1 reached a historic maximum in electricity generation, producing 24.5 billion kWh, which accounts for 20% of the country’s total electricity production.

This record output was made possible by the successful implementation of the Unit 1 restoration project. For the first time in 30 years, the power plant is operating at its full installed capacity of 4,040 MW in an eight-unit configuration.

The commissioning of Unit 1, with a capacity of 540 MW and equipped with a modern automated process control system and enhanced technical characteristics, ensures stable and reliable electricity supply to households and industrial enterprises.

The project has also delivered several positive outcomes:
• creation of more than 50 additional jobs for plant operating personnel;
• meeting domestic electricity demand;
• increased industrial production.

Ekibastuz SDPP-1 is a flagship of Kazakhstan’s power sector and one of the largest coal-fired power plants in the world.
