Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy JSC, reported on the results of the past heating season and preparations for the upcoming season at a government meeting.
According to Maxutov, the 2026 repair campaign covers 111 units of key equipment, including 19 major overhauls, 5 extended outages and 87 routine repairs involving power units, boilers and turbines. To date, 26% of the work has been completed, 14% is currently underway, while the remaining 60% is scheduled for completion in line with the approved timetable.
Key investment projects include:
Ekibastuz SDPP-1: reconstruction of the fuel handling system with a throughput capacity of 2,800 tons per hour, scheduled for commissioning in December 2026, as well as construction of a new 270-metre flue stack.
Almaty: reconstruction of 19.5 km of district heating mains connecting CHP-2 and the Western Heat Complex. Installation of 4.3 km of pipelines is planned for this year.
Ekibastuz SDPP-2: full replacement of a 15.5 km ash slurry pipeline by October 2026 to eliminate the risk of emergency failures.
“Samruk-Energy’s power plants account for one-third of the country’s electricity generation. Today, Samruk-Energy is providing the necessary funding to ensure that routine and major repairs are completed in full while maintaining continuous operational readiness”-, noted the Company’s head.
