Samruk-Energy JSC is implementing a project to digitalize electricity generation planning processes at its renewable energy facilities. The artificial intelligence and machine learning-based solution is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2026.
Accurate forecasting is particularly important for wind power facilities, as electricity generation volumes depend directly on weather conditions, including wind speed, which is highly variable and difficult to forecast.
The solution is based on an artificial intelligence model integrated with the meteorological service. The system will process meteorological data at the high spatial and temporal resolution required to forecast electricity generation at wind power plants.
Historical and real-time data from the automated commercial electricity metering system (ACEMS) and SCADA systems will be used to train and adapt the AI model, including actual generation data and equipment operating parameters. This will enable the model to account for actual operating conditions and improve generation forecast accuracy to up to 80%, thereby supporting more effective operational planning and reducing financial losses associated with deviations between actual generation and scheduled generation volumes.
