First Wind Power Plant LLP (FWPP), part of Samruk-Energy JSC Group, welcomed an international delegation of women participating in a professional development program for women in the energy sector in Central Asia, organized by the OSCE with the involvement of the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET).
The delegation brought together more than 20 participants from five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan — as well as representatives of the OSCE and GWNET.
First Wind Power Plant, located in Akmola region near Ereymentau city, was selected to showcase Kazakhstan’s experience in renewable energy development. During the visit, the participants learned about the plant’s infrastructure, the operation of wind turbines and the practical aspects of using renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan’s natural and climatic conditions.
First Wind Power Plant is one of Kazakhstan’s first large-scale wind power projects. The plant was commissioned in 2015, and its cumulative electricity generation has exceeded 1.57 billion kWh since operations began.
The event was held as part of the OSCE’s international project, “Promoting women’s economic empowerment in the energy sector in Central Asia for energy security and sustainable development”. The project aims to strengthen women’s professional and leadership skills and increase their participation in the energy sector.
For Samruk-Energy JSC, supporting international initiatives of this kind helps share practical experience in renewable energy project development, strengthen industry expertise and foster international cooperation.
