Analysis of the Electricity and Coal Market in Kazakhstan for January-December 2021.

Electricity generation by “Samruk-Energy” JSC energy-producing organizations over the past year increased by 13.5 percent compared to 2020, amounting to 35 609,3 mln.kWh. This is stated in the Report including an Analysis of the Electricity and Coal Market in Kazakhstan for January-December 2021 posted on the company's website.

In general, according to the analysis, according to the data from System Operator, all power plants of the Republic of Kazakhstan generated 114 447,9 mln. kWh of electricity in 2021, which is 5.8% more than in 2020. The growth in a generation was observed in all zones of the Unified Energy System of Kazakhstan.

At the same time, in 2021, there was a 6% increase in the dynamics of electricity consumption of the republic in comparison with 2020 figures. So, in the northern zone of the republic, consumption increased by 5%, in the southern zone by 9%, and in the western zone by 7%.

111 742,4 thous. tons of hard coal was mined in 2021, which is 2.3% more than in 2020 (109 227,6 thous. tons).

           “Bogatyr Komir” LLP, a coal mining company in the structure of “Samruk-Energy” JSC power holding company, produced 44 632 thous. tons in  2021, which is 0.5% more than in 2020 (44 436 thous. tons). At the same time, in 2021, “Bogatyr Komir” LLP sold 44 848 thous. tons of coal, of which 34 939 thous. tons were sent to the domestic market, and 9 802 thous. tons were exported (RF). The 2021 figures demonstrate an increase in coal sales at “Samruk-Energy” JSC by 2,5% in comparison with 2020.

Market analysis shows that electricity generation by RE facilities (SPP, WPP, BGS, small HPPs) of the RK for 2021 amounted to 4 220,3 mln. kWh. The increase was 30,1% compared to 2020

Electricity production by “Samruk-Energy” JSC RE facilities (SPP, WPP, small HPPs) in January-December 2021 amounted to 325,3 mln. kWh or 7,7% of the volume of electricity generated by renewable energy facilities in the RK.
