The Chairman of the Management Board of “Samruk-Energy” JSC, Kairat Maxutov, held a meeting with the Vice Chairman of the Board of China Energy International Group Co., Ltd., Xue Danfeng. During the discussions, the parties addressed the implementation of joint renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 800 MW.
The legal framework for these initiatives is based on the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People's Republic of China, signed on November 12, 2024, during the COP 29 conference.
The projects include the construction of a 300 MW solar power plant in the Turkestan region and a 500 MW wind power plant in the Karaganda region. These projects are set to make a significant contribution to the development of green energy in Kazakhstan.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the identification of major project implementation stages. In the first half of 2025, the signing of key project documents is planned. Additionally, the parties discussed the establishment of a joint project company as part of this work.
These steps underscore the commitment of “Samruk-Energy” JSC and China Energy International Group to further strengthen their partnership and implement strategically important initiatives in the energy sector.
