Samruk-Energy and China Power International Holding Limited sign roadmap for 1 GW WPP Project

In the lead-up to the Second "Central Asia – China" Summit and the Astana International Forum (AIF), a meeting was held in Astana between Mr. Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Management Board of "Samruk-Energy" JSC, and Ms. Renaguli Tu'erdi, Vice President of China Power International Holding Limited (CPIH).

During the meeting, the parties signed a Roadmap for the implementation of a wind power plant project with an installed capacity of 1 GW, including an energy storage system, to be developed in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan.
The Roadmap outlines the agreed priorities, key development milestones, and anticipated outcomes of the bilateral cooperation.

Both parties emphasized the strategic importance of the project in strengthening the energy partnership between Kazakhstan and China, particularly in the context of deepening collaboration in sustainable development and the transition to a green economy.

Special attention was given to the urgent need for signing the core project agreements, including the Investment Agreement and the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). These agreements are essential prerequisites for advancing to the next phase of the project — namely, securing project financing and preparing for the conclusion of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, scheduled for 2026.

"Samruk-Energy" JSC confirmed its readiness to become a shareholder in the project company and to provide comprehensive support throughout all stages of the project’s implementation.
