Aizek Zhupankhan, Head of the Digitalization and AI Office at Samruk-Energy JSC, participated in a panel discussion at GITEX AI Central Asia & Caucasus titled “Powering the Transition: Scaling Generation Capacity Across the Eurasian Energy Belt.” The session was moderated by Shota Digmelashvili, Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Georgia.
The discussion focused on the key challenges facing Kazakhstan’s energy sector and the role of AI technologies in addressing them. Participants explored how AI-driven solutions can improve the reliability of generation assets, optimize operations and support the integration of renewable energy sources into the country’s unified power grid.
Particular attention was given to Samruk-Energy’s practical experience in applying AI technologies and implementing digital solutions, including:
Predictive analytics — transition from scheduled preventive maintenance to intelligent equipment condition monitoring.
Wind power generation forecasting — deployment of a high-accuracy forecasting model for wind power plants with a 24–72-hour forecasting horizon.
Drones and computer vision — use of unmanned aerial vehicles and computer vision technologies for the inspection of power generation and transmission facilities.
Cybersecurity — application of a one-way data transfer approach using data diodes.
