Construction of the 300 MW solar power plant in Sauran district of Turkistan region is progressing steadily. Foundation works for the solar module support structures are nearing completion, and installation of the first photovoltaic panels has commenced. Approximately 600,000 next-generation photovoltaic panels equipped with solar tracking systems will be installed across an area of around 800 hectares.
The project also includes the deployment of an energy storage system, which will ensure stable power generation and improve the efficiency of electricity transmission to the grid. At the same time, foundation works for the main power transformer, the energy storage system and the switchgear are progressing actively. Equipment deliveries are being carried out in accordance with the approved schedule.
Total investment in the construction of the solar power plant will exceed USD 200 million. Commissioning of the facility is scheduled for 2027, while the first electricity is expected to be generated by the end of December this year.
Once operational, the solar power plant will generate more than 600 million kWh of clean electricity annually, helping reduce electricity shortages in Kazakhstan's southern regions and increase the share of renewable energy sources in the country's energy mix.
The project is being implemented by Qazaq Green Power PLC, a subsidiary of Samruk-Energy JSC, in partnership with Energy China.
