In the first half of 2026, Samruk-Energy JSC delivered stable operational and financial results, confirming its status as Kazakhstan's largest power company. According to preliminary six-month 2026 operating data, Samruk-Energy JSC's power plants generated 20.3 billion kWh of electricity, accounting for 32% of total electricity generation in Kazakhstan. The Group's enterprises met their production targets across their key areas of operation.
Stable operational performance is contributing to stronger financial results for the Company. Based on preliminary results for the first half of this year, Samruk-Energy JSC's assets amounted to approximately KZT 2.1 trillion, 30% higher than in the same period of 2025. As previously reported, in 2026, Moody's Ratings assigned Samruk-Energy JSC a first-time investment-grade long-term issuer rating of Baa2 in both foreign and local currency, with a Stable outlook. The investment-grade rating reflects Samruk-Energy JSC's strong financial position, solid market position and sustained growth in its operating performance.
Samruk-Energy is implementing a number of major priority investment projects.
The Company's portfolio comprises 20 major projects for the construction and modernization of energy facilities with a total capacity of 12.6 GW, accounting for almost half of all energy projects being implemented in Kazakhstan. The portfolio includes coal-fired generation projects (2 GW), gas-fired generation projects (2.2 GW), renewable energy projects (5.8 GW), as well as hydropower and pumped-storage hydropower projects (2.6 GW). In 2026 alone, Samruk-Energy plans to sign 10 EPC contracts for the turnkey construction of energy facilities, with contractors already having started work at the construction sites for five projects.
In addition, Samruk-Energy is a key participant in the modernization of Kazakhstan's energy sector. Under the national Project for the modernization of energy and utility sectors, Samruk-Energy plans to commission 3.6 GW of new generation capacity by 2029, out of the 7.3 GW envisaged under the project.
The implementation of these projects will improve the reliability of the power system, strengthen energy security and accelerate the modernization of the country's infrastructure.
