Samruk-Energy CEO Ansar Aidarov inspects construction progress at Almaty CHPs

On 30–31 October 2026, Ansar Aidarov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy JSC, inspected the progress of construction works at the Almaty combined heat and power plants (CHPs). Together with the management of Almaty Power Plants JSC (AlES), he visited the construction sites at CHP-2 and CHP-3.

At Almaty CHP-3, the Head of Samruk-Energy JSC reviewed progress on the plant reconstruction project. According to the general contractor, Gas Turbine No. 1 and its generator have been installed on their foundation and aligned with the design axis and elevation. Installation of auxiliary equipment is ongoing. The foundations for steam turbine unit No. 1 have been completed; the heat recovery boiler steel structures have been erected, and the heating surfaces and drums have been installed. Installation of the exhaust stacks is nearing completion.

Work on the plant's auxiliary facilities has also been stepped up. These include the gas receiving and preparation unit, circulating water pump station, cooling towers and water treatment plant.

At Almaty CHP-2, Ansar Aidarov inspected all three gas turbines, the steam turbine and the hot-water boiler house. On 31 October 2026, the hot-water boiler house, which has been converted to natural gas, delivered heat to Almaty's district heating network for the first time. This marked the first delivery of heat from the modernized plant to the city's heating network.

Following the site inspections, Samruk-Energy CEO Ansar Aidarov held a meeting with representatives of AlES and the contracting organizations. He emphasized the need to step up the work and instructed those involved to take corrective action to ensure that the energy facilities are commissioned within the established timeframes.
