First Women’s forum of “Samruk-Energy” JSC Group of companies held in Astana

The inaugural "Women in Power" forum was opened by Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy JSC, in Astana. In his welcoming address, he acknowledged the vital contribution of women to the energy sector.

"Women represent nearly 26% of the workforce across Samruk-Energy Group. In 2011, our company joined the UN Global Compact and has since integrated its principles into our strategy and daily operations. We are firmly committed to gender equality, a cornerstone of our sustainable development, and will continue to work on empowering women," Kairat Maxutov said.

Saltanat Satjan, Managing Director for Development and Privatization at “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC, also gave a keynote address.

"There are more than 68,000 women working across Samruk-Kazyna. Currently, women hold 17% of senior leadership positions within the Group, and we plan to increase this figure to 30% by 2030," Saltanat Satjan stated.

She added that achieving these targets is not just about promoting gender equality but is part of a broader strategy aimed at fostering an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives—encompassing not only gender equality but also professional, cultural, and other forms of diversity.

Other notable speakers included Lazzat Ramazanova, Deputy Chair of the National Commission on Women and Family-Demographic Policy under the President of Kazakhstan; Dina Amrisheva, Acting Head of the UN Women Office in Kazakhstan; and Lyazzat Akhmurzina, Executive Director of Kazenergy Association.

More than 150 women from Samruk-Energy’s subsidiaries attended the forum. During the panel discussion, they addressed key issues related to partnerships, progress, and the future role of women in the energy sector.

The forum will conclude with the adoption of a resolution and the presentation of certificates to participants.
