Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Energy" JSC met with Darhan Satybaldy, Mayor of Turkestan Region, during his visit to Samruk-Energy's facilities in the region.
Kairat Maxutov noted that Samruk-Energy group operates the Shardara Hydropower Plant in the region. This facility underwent a complete modernization in 2020 and, with a capacity of 126 MW, it supports peak load coverage and balances renewable energy sources across the entire Southern zone of Kazakhstan.
Special attention was given to the project in Sairam district, which involves the construction of a power plant using combined cycle gas turbine technology with a capacity of up to 1000 MW. This plant will operate in a flexible generation mode and will help enhance the reliability of the national energy system.
Darhan Satybaldy was informed about the progress on the construction site and the plans for developing gas infrastructure, power output facilities, and water supply.
In turn, the Mayor of the region emphasized that energy security is a critical issue for the region, and local executive bodies will provide full support for the timely and high-quality implementation of the project.
Following the business meeting, both parties agreed on the need for joint coordination on construction matters and expressed their willingness to consider collaborative investment projects in the energy sector within Turkestan Region.
